Volunteering
Anyone aged 14 or older can volunteer in Lithuania at any nonprofit organization, as provided for in the Law on Volunteer Activities of the Republic of Lithuania. Organizations that accept volunteers identify their need for volunteers and the appropriate profile, and then, during a face-to-face meeting, the expectations of both parties are coordinated: tasks, scope of activities, a timeline for carrying out the activities, and communication. The host organization and the volunteers must sign a bilateral volunteer agreement before the volunteers begin their work.
Volunteer work can take many different forms. Each form has its own advantages, so it is very important to choose not only the field but also the form that best suits the volunteer’s needs, to decide where they would like to volunteer, and how much time they can devote to it.
